Her First Sewing Lesson

Yesterday Maria had her first experience on my sewing machine. She went to our QG meeting on Sunday and purchased two charm packs and she's been raring to get started. We decided on a disappearing 9 patch pattern and she laid out her first few blocks. Here is her first effort, not bad at all :) So we are adding sewing to her Homeschool courses.
She decided to use bright green for all the center blocks. Such fun fabrics!

Wooly Fun!

Buttermilk Basin is having a wool applique BOM. I finished the first block just in time for the reveal of the second! So far they are super cute and I can't wait to get started on the next block. All my wool is upcycled from sweaters, skirts, blazers, etc., so I don't always have the exact colors that I might like. I always like the end result though.

Happy New Year 2015

I hope everyone has had a safe and happy New Year's Eve. I am planning on a quiet day at home with maybe a little sewing for fun. I made a fabric basket for our guild Christmas party gift and I'd like to make one for rmyself. The pattern I used was on Seaside Stitches with the modification using French Seams, found here.

We went to a wedding last night, here's a photo from there of my three beautiful daughters :)

EPP Diamond Star Progress

I'm a few behind but I have them cut and ready to sew. I've decided to make this a wall hanging when I'm done, just for me!!! I fell like I'm always giving away everything I make, but not this one.

These two are the most recent additons and my new favorites!

Summer Sew Along

Not because I need to start another project, but, I have a feeling this is going to be realy cute! It's a Summer sew along at Temecula Qilt Co. It's a mystery, but it's called Summer Spools. Here's the link to her recent post on cutting the pieces.  I'm going to play along!

I'm also working on Fussy Cut riday diamonds, although I'm behind I have about 18 done.

Spring Flowers Needle Book

I just finished making this needle case, I really liked the way it turned out. This is the outside cover before I pressed it closed. It's made from wool felt that I bought at Wool Felt Central and and DMC embroidery floss.

Here's a close up of the flowers on the cover.

There are a bunch of pages, some with pockets, some with strips of alternating colors.
